Research at the Chair of Energy Engineering and Environmental Protection concentrates on the development and optimization of various energy conversion concepts, plants and systems. Optimization procedures consider economic, ecologic and thermodynamic aspects.

Research is focused on application and advancement of exergy based methods and energy system analysis and optimization.

Currently active research projects:

  • ChemEFlex: Feasibility of load flexible operation of electrochemical processes in industry
  • DEKADE-F-Wärme: Decarbonisation of district heating system through sector-coupling of power and heat and integration of renewable energies.
  • OEB-EnSys: Application of methods for combined optimization of design and operation on energy system models
