Research at the Chair of Energy Engineering and Environmental Protection focuses on the design, analysis, evaluation and optimization of various energy conversion concepts and plants as well as of energy supply systems. The optimization is carried out with respect to cost, environmental impact and thermodynamic performance using both exergy-based methods and mathematical optimization methods.

The further development and applications of advanced exergy-based methods are further focal points of our research.

Current research projects:

  • ChemEFlex: Feasibility of load flexibilization for electrochemical processes in industry
  • DEKADE-F-Wärme: Decarbonization of district heating systems through coupling of the power and heat sectors and integration of renewable energies
  • OEB-EnSys: Application of methods for the combined optimization of design and operation of energy systems
  • ProBExA: Process evaluation and exergy analysis for a combined heat and power plant

Further Information:

Unless stated otherwise please contact the head of chair for further information on past or current research projects.
