History
The Chair of Energy Engineering and Environmental Protection was founded in May 1994 at the Institute for Energy Engineering through an endowment by the public power company Berliner Kraft- und Licht Aktiengesellschaft (Bewag).
Research
Research at the Chair of Energy Engineering and Environmental Protection focuses on the design, analysis, evaluation and optimization of various energy conversion concepts and plants as well as of energy supply systems. The optimization is carried out with respect to cost, environmental impact and thermodynamic efficiency using both exergy-based methods and mathematical optimization methods.
Teaching
The Chair of Energy Engineering and Environmental Protection offers the following courses for various bachelor and master programs: (Energy Engineering I and II, Power Plant Engineering, Design, Analysis and Optimization of Energy Conversion Plants, Computer Laboratory for Energy Engineering and Power Plant Engineering and Power Plant Engineering).
