Design, Analysis and Optimization of Energy Conversion Plants

The course focuses on the exergoeconomic analysis, evaluation and optimization of energy conversion plants.
The following topics are covered:
- Introduction to the design of energy conversion plants
- Synthesis of energy conversion plants
- Overview of exergetic and economic analysis methods
- Exergoeconomic analyses and evaluations
- Optimization of energy conversion plants
The main part of this course consists of project work in small groups (3-5 students). The necessary knowledge is discussed in lectures and computer classes. The course is offered as an elective subject for students of the master programs Energy and Process Engineering, Renewable Energy Systems and Energy and Environmental Systems Engineering (PEESE). Basic knowledge in the fields of thermodynamics, energy engineering, heat transfer and fluid mechanics is a prerequisite for this course.

Previous completion of Energietechnik I or Energy Engineering I&II or an equivalent course is a prerequisite; prior completion of Energietechnik II and of the Computer Laboratory in Energy Engineering is recommended.
The places are allocated on the basis of qualifications; in case of equal qualifications, priority is given to applications with an earlier submission date.

- Already completed courses:
- Energietechnik I/II or Energy Engineering I/II
- Computer Laboratory in Energy Engineering
- Other relevant courses
In case of unexcused absence on the first day of class (will be announced later), the place in the course is forfeited!
